meet Mrs. Moreira

Hi there! I graduated from Stanford University with a double-major in math (Honors) and classics (Latin focus). Since graduating, I've brought my love of learning and interest in competitions to hundreds of students across a wide variety of subjects and ages, and specializes in helping kids exceed their learning goals while upholding a strong commitment to their moral development.

Before all that, I was a homeschooled kid myself! I really enjoyed ballet and academic competitions. These are the sorts of experiences I love being able to share with other families so that their kids can have similar opportunities diving into their own children's passions.
Classics was especially my focus: I won 1st Place on the International Medusa Mythology Exam and 1st place in the Illinois Latin Tournament, and I also gave a speech in Latin at a Junior Classical League convention to over 500 peers from around the state and contributed to archaeological discoveries in Roman Britain. Later, I translated previously untranslated 12th century Latin scrolls from Admont Monastery, managed Stanford's classics journal as Co-Editor-in-Chief, and wrote numerous competitions for the Junior Classical League. Now, my current Latin students excel in contests throughout the year.
Having completed Stanford University's Math 60 (formerly, 50H) series, received an honors math major from Stanford, and conducted math research during which I proved two new theorems (related to computer science complexity theory), I am also very passionate about helping math and computer science students excel! While I was at Art of Problem Solving on the math curriculum development team and then as Associate Director, I helped students preparing for AMC /AIME/ USJAMO/ USAMO boost their scores. Currently, I spend many hours per week specializing in transitioning students from Bronze USACO to Silver USACO with AlphaStar Academy, in addition to extensive private tutoring in both math and computer science.

There are two groups of students with whom I work well: students who are already excelling and want to take their success to the next level, and motivated (or very young) students who are struggling in school and don't know where to turn. Overall, learning is an amazing journey, and I try to share this love of learning as deeply and widely as possible!
